  •      dog sledding
  • In the book Buck gets beaten by the man in the red sweater. He adapts to the term law of club and fang. on page 10 it quotes," a man with a club was a law-giver, a master to be obeyed, though not necessarily conciliated."  In the book it shows that the club is a symbol of power and leadership.
  • Buck and spiz first fight
  • curly's death was a tragic moment for Buck because Curly was Buck's best friend. The huskies were right near the log store. In the text on page 14 it quotes," curly made advances to a husky." The husky got territorial and they fought. After Curly's death buck learned that when you fall down you are dead.
  • Spitz death
  • Buck was not the only one who had to adapt to something his sled team also needed to adapt to survive. In the story it talks about buck and his team  going through harsh weather. They not only have to go through harsh weather but they have to learn to get used to running constantly for a long time.
  • Dave's death
  • On page 26 it says, Buck finished his ration and returned, he found his nest occupied." That's because Spitz stole his nest, It also says, "He sprang upon Spitz with a fury which surprised them both and Spitz. This shows survival of the fittest because it shows how buc"s beast showed itself.

" This shows that all the dogs were still getting used to all of this running and Dave still needs to adapt. Later on in the story on page 50 it says, "His comrades talked of how a dog could break its heart by being denied the work that killed it.
