Storyboard Text

  • Meriwether you are going to explore territory that I had bought. You may take anyone on your expedition.
  • Very well Mr. Jefferson. I shall explore your territory.
  • Yes, you are a very good friend of mine and can't trust anyone other than you.
  • Really? Your gonna take me on your expedtion?
  •  President Thomas Jefferson had sent Meriwether Lewis to explore some territory that he had bought. Louisana Purchase.
  • Great idea Lewis, I'll take half and the other you can take to see which is the right way.
  • I know you take half of the expedtion team will go North with me and you take the other half to go South.
  • Clark their may be a passage that directly leads to the Pacific Ocean from the Missouri River from here.
  • Meriwether Lewis had chosen William Clark as second in command.
  • Possibly Lewis lets go check if it does lead to the Pacific Ocean.
  • As they had set out on their adventure with more people that Lewis had recruited they had begun their expedtion into the unknown. While they were traveling through what is now now known as The Lewis and Clark Trail they had come across to a stream leading north and the other south.  They had not known what to do.
  • Sadly, there is no Northwest passage from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean.
  • There is no Northwest Passage to the Pacific Ocean.
  • As they had seemed stumped Lewis had come up with a Great Idea. After this idea of Lewis and they had found out heading south had been the Missouri River.
  • When Lewis and Clark had kept going onto their passage they had hoped they would find a Northwest passage that had the Missouri River connected to the Pacific ocean and to the riches of Asia.
  • They had not found a passage but only Mountains to the "West of us" which had taken them 3 months to overcome. Their the idea of a passage had died. This adventure of Lewis and Clark was a great one as they had overcomed difficult obstacles and had not given up.
