Storyboard Text

  • But fighting is not good. Todd, you should control your anger. Even you Enzo, you were shouting at Todd when I came. Controlling your anger can help in avoiding fights like what happened earlier.
  • Yes, you guys can share and play together. Remember our story earlier about sharing? Sharing is a good thing to do. It makes you a good person.
  • I know teacher, I just really don't know how I can control my anger. I try, but it's really hard for me.
  • I know Todd, but you can do it. I will teach you one technique. All of you can use it, especially when you are feeling angry, or better starting to feel mad.
  • What is that teacher?
  • It is called the turtle technique. It is simple there are only four things to do. The first one, you need to recognize that you are angry. Like what I said earlier, you can use it when you are starting to feel angry.
  •  Then, when you realize that you are already feeling angry, you have to stop. You need to stop and think. But here is where the turtle part comes in. After stopping you have to go to your shell, like a turtle. You can sit down then hug your knees or do any position as long as you cover yourself. While you are in your shell you think.
  • Think of what teacher?
  • Think of the next thing you will do. Think of a solution. Also it is the time that you make yourself calm. You can breathe in and out while thinking. Then when you are calm, and you already thought of what to do, you can come out of your shell and continue.
  • The teacher reminded the students of what they said they are going to do to avoid fights: to share and to control their anger by doing the turtle technique. After that, the students were allowed to go. The three left happy and went back to the playground to play together.
  • Oh, wow. That's a cool technique teacher.
  • Yes! That's great. I will try that, I think it can help me control my anger. Thank you Teacher Maki.
