The Magna Carta limited the king's power and protected the right of the nobles(only the nobles). It introduced the ideas of limited government, rule of law and due process (trial by jury).

The Mayflower Compact introduced the ideas of self government and social construct. The Pilgrims created this government for themselves. It was an agreement among men.

Why should government be just one person? Power corrupts like mold on bread. There should be ....three, yeah three is a great number. There should be three branches government.

Finally he believed that the people gave the power to the government to protect them this is called social contract.
These people no matter how rich or poor all have certain rights. Rights that cannot be denied! Why do we have kings? To protect us! WE gave the power those kings!
Montesquieu believed that the government should be split into three branches, executive, judicial and legislative. He also believed this would stop them from gaining too much power.
Common sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine to get the colonists to support becoming independent from England. It promoted self government and rights of the people.
