  • The battle of Gonzales was marked the first shots of the Texas Revolution. It was also known as the Lexington of Texas.
  • 4.4 Independence
  • The Battle of Gonzales was a fight for independence. Settlers in Texas began debating what they should do for the future of Texas.
  • 4.5 Winning Independence
  • The Texans were outnumbered from thousands of Mexicans troops. "Remember the Alamo" will always be the battle cry as 200 Texans fought for their independence.
  • 4.6 The Republic of Texas
  • On March 2, 1836, 59 delegates voted that Texas would be independent and other connections with Mexico would be over.
  • The success from Santa Anna and his forces continue to start another war. San Houston had to fight with the rest of  his army.
  • In 1835, conflict between the Texan and Mexican government started the Texas Revolution. In 1836, the Texas won the battle of San Jacinto and won its indepencence.
