  • Another example of a Person vs. Society conflict in The Pearl is Kino vs. racism. Many times throughout the story Kino is made inferior because of his race. • Person vs. Person
  • An example of a Person vs. Society conflict in The Pearl is Kino vs. classism stereotypes. Throughout the story, Kino is cheated on and held against false stereotypes by the doctor, the priest, the pearl buyers, and the beggars. He and his family are thought of as inferior just because of their financial status and where they live, which is a hurtful assumption.
  • Person vs. Person
  • An example of a Person vs. Self conflict in The Pearl is Kino vs. himself. Many times throughout the story Kino let his greed and selfishness get the best of him. His personality changed for the worse and everyone in his village knew. It was as if Kino's actions were decided upon by a different man, but it was just the man that the pearl made him become.
  • "the family is ruined"
  • "you let the villagers down"
  • "Coyotito's education"
  • "marriage"
  • "you'll be rich"
  • An example of a Person vs. Person conflict in The Pearl is Kino vs. Juana. The couple has different views on what should be done with the pearl, and these disagreements lead to many arguments and sometimes even physical fighting.
  • Another Person vs. Person conflict in The Pearl is Kino vs. the trackers. In chapter 6, Kino is seen running away from and physically fighting the trackers to their death. The trackers also killed the person he loved the most, the person that started the whole ordeal.
