Storyboard Text

  • Hello kids, I am going to teach you about elements, compounds, and molecules.
  • An element is a material that is made of one kind of atom.  One element is Iron (Fe), which is the material used to make that bridge.
  • A compound is a pure substance composed of two or more elements that are chemically bonded.  For example this water (H2O)  has two kinds of atoms.  Hydrogen and oxygen.
  • A molecule is a group of two or more atoms together by chemical bonds. A type of molecule is Nitrogen (N2) makes up over half of the earths atmosphere.
  • Something you should remember is that every compound is a molecule but not every molecule is a compound.
  • Congratulations, you learned about classification of matter. Goodbye kids!
