Have you ever wondered if there was any other political parties than the regular ones?
The People's Party was created in the late 19th Century. It consisted of agrarian reformers form the Midwest and the South.
The People's Party was then created. They tried widening their base to include laborers and other groups but it was basically all agrarin-oriented.
Before this party was created, there was a local party called the Farmer's Alliances who were upset about crop failures, failing prices etc. It was then proved politically ineffective.

These two men were the founders snd leaders of the Populist Party. James family claimed a homestead when he was a child which is why he was such an advocate for farmers and laborers. Leonidas was an American farmer which made him such an advocate as well. Their political party had a temporarily successful revolt against the Democratic Party.
