Storyboard Text

  • Homesteading / Ranching
  • Whew! I finally harvested all my crops
  • Impact of the Railroad
  • It's so much easier to transport goods from town to town now that we have these magnificent railroads!
  • Ah yes, I agree.
  • Boomtowns / Mining
  • I'm sure glad that we mined all this gold
  • Yea! This means more folks will come to our town
  • GOLD
  • Homesteads were houses near ranches or crops that would tend to these lands and make a living out of growing, harvesting, and selling their crops. Homesteaders are the residents that live at and take care of these lands. I showed a Homesteader harvesting his crops in my comic after a long days work.
  • Harvey Houses
  • Mornin' mister, what can I get ya?
  • Railroads had a big impact when lots of them were installed all around towns. They allowed goods and people to be transported faster and more efficiently. I showed this in my comic by putting two wealthier men talking about how transportation will be so much easier now that there are railroads installed near their town.
  • Tourism
  • Wow darling! This town is really busy now that they've increased their gold production
  • Boomtowns are towns that gained a lot of popularity and wealth from something happening in their town. The most common thing was when new mining areas were discovered and the town got more gold. I showed this in my comic by having miners remark about how with all the gold they just got their town would become more popular and attract more people.
  • Wild West
  • Gimme yer dun money before I kill you or another one of yer dang horses!
  • AAH!!!! Tale whatever you want just leave us alone!
  • Harvey Houses were businesses that hired only women to work because they were nicer to the customers. These women were soon called "Harvey Girls". I showed this in my comic by having a man go into a diner building remarking about how the women is much nicer than the man that served him the week before.
  • You sure are nicer then those hooligans servin' me last week
  • Tourism back in the old West happened when towns started producing more buildings or gaining more goods. The new buildings and items would attract more people into the town. I showed this by making a more wealthy looking couple going down a street in a busy town talking about how the town has gained more popularity.
  • In old Western times there was a lot of violence going on because no laws were really enforced. This violence is one of the reasons why it's called the "Wild West". I showed this in my comic by presenting the sheer amount of violence there could be in every day lives.
