  • In the lumber industry, a forest could be full of large trees when they got there and large tree stumps when they left.
  • The forests would be cleared and the logs would be brought down the Mississippi river to the towns where their facilities where their machines are kept
  • The men slept in cabins along the forests with severalsets of bunk beds for the lumberjacks to sleep in
  • There were many risks to working in the lumber industry, when cutting trees you could lose a finger, while running the machinery, you could be injured.
  • One time there was a large difficulty with the Mississippi River, it had been jammed with logs. They used Dynamite to blow it up and pulled some logs out of the water but lives had been lost in the process.
  • Later the wood cut down from trees is used to build homes and businesses.
