  • Well, batteries contain different chemicals in order to make them work.

  • 1. Cadmium (NiCd)2. Nickel (NiMH)3. Lead (PbO2+H2SO4)4. Lithium (Li-ion)5. mercury (Zn+Hg0 --> ZnO+Hg6. Zinc
  • Well it depends on the battery, the most common chemicals / compounds used are on the board..
  • Lithium = 
  • How are these dangerous for the environment?
  • Well let's look at lithium for example. Lithium batteries are very flammable. If a battery containing lithium decays in a landfill. There is a chance a fire can be created
  • Lithium + lead=Nickel = Cadmium =
  • What about the others? 
  • Lithium, Lead, Nickel, and Cadmium are all corrosive chemicals
  • If any of your skin is exposed to these chemicals, you will have severe burns
