  • Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat who after losing his job published THE PRINCE. THE PRINCE was a novel explaining how a prince might take power and keep it. After that he published a book explaining how a democracy is supposed to be run, by the people.

  • In his most famous piece THE PRINCE machiavelli explains how to be a successful monarch. He explains how to take power and keep it, by not relying on anyone and using fear to keep people in line. This book is realistic in how to keep power, it don't say to rely on the goodness of people it does basically the opposite and tells you how to keep power in even the most dire of situations

  • Machiavelli is without question a humanist. His novel the prince is a clear example of this, it talks about about rising up the social ladder and strugling to take power. Struggles and a focas on the here and now are the main points of humanism and machiavelli nails both of them.

  • Michelangelo was a very talented painter during the renaissance. He created such masterpieces as the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the statue of David. He was born in March 6, 1475 and he died February 18, 1564.

  • Michalangelo's greatest pieces were David and the sistine chapel. The statue of David shows a man going deep into thought with near perfect human anatomy. The sistine chapel shows several very realistic depictions of biblical scenes.

  • Michelangelo was without a doubt a humanist. David shows a man thinking and focusing on humans and their struggles is what humanism is all about. Several of his depictions on the Sistine chapel also display humanism.
