James Oglethorpe and his Trustee groups went out, looking for a place to settle their new colony after he asked King Georgia II for permission on finding a place to make a new colony.
They found a good spot to settle their new colony with three main purposes during the Trustee Period:Philanthropy, Economic, and Defense. And so, they began to build their new colony. The Trustees decided if some of the colonists wanted to settle here, they will receive 50 acres of land, supplies of food and agricultural supplies for a year.
Silly men these days..
Were helping the others build the colony.
Wait, what are we supposed to do again?
As the colonists settle in the new colony, the Trustees decided to put rules and restrict some things. They banned slavery, they didn't allow Catholics, Jews, or liquor dealers in the colony. And they didn't allow the colonists to sell land, unless it is passed down to a male heir. They also had a group of military soldiers to defend the colony from any colony that tried to raid their land.Colonists were told to bring their farming tools so they can plant mulberry trees for silk.
Look at that! The mulberry tree has grown already!
