Engel (student) Vitale (state)
Engel v. Vitale
moment of silence or prayer time.
is voluntary prayer in public schools violating my First Amendment in prohibiting state establishment of religion.
The Amendment was supposed to keep the government out of religion. Children are impressonable and such religions can allow them to embrace a religion their parents do not want.
The prayers given in class are short and not discussed. The children are just learning about how we as a country were founded upon God.
Requiring public schools to participate in prayer is unconstitutional.
Establishment clause was only meant to prohibit the establishment of a state-sponsored church
