The Asteroid was scheduled to hit the moon on May 18. It gave teachers the ability to make us write about stuff that had to do with the moon.
You each must write a paper on the asteroid by Friday
They said the meteor would hit within the hour. My Mom and Matt went outside to watch the meteor. I went out when mom brought the batch of cookies out too.

I went over to Matt's telescope to get a closer look and that's when I saw it.. the asteroid hurling at the moon with such speed. The other houses went quiet once they too saw it. Then it hit... everyone started to panic. I even heard one man yell "OH MY GOD!". We went inside away from the panic to turn on the news.
We tried to turn the news on but all we got was static. After about 15 minutes of trying we eventually we found a channel that worked. They seemed as clueless as we were. They knew an asteroid hit the Moon and that it damaged more than expected but they didn't know what total amount of damage. The other channels were working at this point and we kept switching between them between each channel on the TV. We found out that tsunamis were happening along almost every shoreline in America, NYC had twenty feet of water and rising and Massachusetts was completely under water.

We tried calling neighbors to see if they were ok and if they needed anything... but the lines were out in the area. Which meant I couldn't call Dad...
I forced myself to look out the window and what I saw made my jaw drop. The Moon was much larger than usual even without Matt's telescope I could see all the holes and gaps in it and it seemed to be out of place from where I looked before...
