Mrs. Miller is teaching class and notices Tommy sad in the back by himself.
After class, Mrs. Miller speaks to Tommy and asks if everything is okay.
Tommy tells Mrs. Miller he is fine and she lets him go.
The next day, Mrs. Miller is chatting with Mrs. Nelson during lunch and she mentions Tommy. Mrs. Nelson asks if Mrs. Miller followed the guidelines from the informational brochure about referring students to the counselor. Mrs. Miller reconsiders her actions and decides she should talk to Tommy again.
After class, Mrs. Miller speaks to Tommy and decides that his behavior depicts the signs of depression and he should speak to the school counselor.
Tommy is sent to the school counselor and an appropriate mental health screening is conducted. Tommy feels better after he gets the help he needs.
