Theseus and the Minotaur

Storyboard Text

  • Long ago, King Minos and the King of Athens made a deal agreeing that if the King of Athens sent 7 girls and 7 boys to be eaten by the Minotaur, King Minos would not attack Athens for 9 years.
  • We agree. Crete will not be attacked.
  • The King of Athens was getting a ship ready for the 7 boys and 7 girls, including his son. Every one in Athens was sad, as they were worried about what would happen to the children.
  • No one else should die. I will kill the Minotaur!
  • King Minos greeted the boys and girls as they arrived in Crete. With him was his daighter, Princess Ariadne. She was worried that Prince Theseus would be killed by the Minotaur, so she gave him a ball of string.
  • Use this string to help you find your way out of the labyrinth!.Don't tell my father I am helping you!
  • Prince Theseus wandered through the labyrinth to find the Minotaur, leaving a trail of string behind him. Once he got to the hideous half-human, half-bull creature, he killed him.
  • After he had killed the Minotaur, Prince Theseus, Princess Ariadne and all of the children left the island. On their way home they stopped at another island to get food and fresh water.
  • I cannot believe how my life has changed. I'm going to be married to a brave prince!
  • Married!? Oh no...
  • When they got to the island Prince Theseus sent Princess Ariadne to find some fruit for them to eat. While she was gone , he set sail without her. The gods did not like Theseus' treatment of Ariadne so they punished him.
  • At least now I don't have to get married!
