  • Everyone deserves equality! There should be a fair number of votes for every state.
  • The disagreement over representation brought the delegates to a "stand still." Both sides refused to follow out with their idea for representation and vowed to reject the constitution if they didn't get the representation that they wanted within the legislative branch.

  • The Virginia Plan is the plan that gave more power to the bigger states. It was proposed by James Madison, and it's representation was based on it's population. More people=more votes.
  • 
  • The New Jersey Plan was a plan that gave equality towards the smaller states. It was proposed by W. Patterson, and it's representation was based on equality for all states. Everyone got the same number of votes.
  • The Great Compromise had two different houses. The house of representatives, which is based on state population, and the Senate, which made each state get a fair number of votes. (2 per state.)
