Christopher Columbus an Italian,explorer for Spain, landed in Americas 1492.
1519 Pineda did not finish his mission. Some of his men were arrested by Hernan Cortes, who saw the explorers as a threat to his mission. He mapped the Texas coast. He was the first European to observe the Texas coast.
Cortes was sent to present day Mexico by the governor of Cuba in 1519. The Aztecs viewed Cortes men as gods because of their horses,fireman,and metal armor.With the help Aztecs enemies the Spanish was able to defeat the Aztecs. Their army was concquistadors
Cabeza De Vaca and several men got caught in a hurricane in1528. The Karankawas gave them food and shelter.In 1836 he and three others arrived in Mexico City. They told stories of the people they in encountered. One stroy was the fabled city of gold.
The stories brought back by Cabeza de Vaca set off a search for the golden city. Fray Marcos de Niza thought he found it, but it turned to be an adobe village.
Francisco Vasquez De Cornado and more than 1000 men went in search for the city in 1540. They found the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and explored all the way to present day Kansas.
