As I watched the cars drive by like bullets I wanted to join them.
*Dreaming about Robbie*
This conflict was external because he was about to commit suicide and was talking a bout the situation to his psychiatrist. Andy was talking to the psychiatrist, Dr. Carrothers about the moment when Keisha and him where on the bridge and he saw the cars driving by like bullets and he wanted to join them. The text states,"Their lights were on, and they came at us like bullets, it seemed-too fast to count...sorta hypnotized by the slick whistlin' of the cars as they rushed beneath us. And I wanted to jump." Page 90
This conflict is external because the book they were reading during class got to him and he walked out of class upset. As the class was discussing about the section they read the teacher asked him what he thought about the section which lead to Andy's feelings get to him. According to the text it states," Andy what do you think about these lines?...Andy...where are you going? Whats wrong? Someone go check on him, please. He seemed pretty upset." Page 109
This conflict is internal because he had a dream of Rob telling him to kill himself so he can join him and Andy hasn't told anyone about what has happened. According to the text it states,"So, when you comin'? I cant Rob. Please ;eave me alone. Its all your fault, you know. All your fault. You got the beer. You drove the car. You smashed into the wall. You killed me. And now you gotta come and keep me company." Page 101
