Storyboard Text

  • Title
  • Did I really ever have a youth time period?
  • Paraphrase
  • The day I joined the military..... I don't know whether it was the best or worst day of my life.
  • Connotation
  • All I can remember between being a child and an adult is the town I served in, but it's not like what it used to be.
  • My Lost Youth: grew up too fast, reminiscing on his past, and lost a lot of his imagination and creativity.
  • Attitude/ Shifts
  • The whole poem is showing how this child was dreaming about going into the military, and then joined at a young age, losing his time in youth. Soon he realized all the memories he has, mainly bad; PTSD.
  • Title
  • He can't find much of his youth anymore; he goes back to the town that was once beautiful to him but is now not like anything he remembered after battle.
  • Theme
  • Trying to find hope, but then as he goes through all the memories he slowly becomes depressed; He was happy & made his love for the town seem great. As the poem kept going, he kept reminiscing on his youth and what memories have occurred.
  • He feels as if he left his youth when he first joined the military and could never find it again.
  • Don’t take youth for granted;  Remind us that if we believe in something so much for example military, etc, we need to remember the aftermaths of those decisions and that the outcome can always change.
