We will go on to fight in three major wars from 1689 to 1748
We will have a fourth major war in 1754. Our colonies will also go onto fight for dominance of the Americas
The First Skrimish (1740s)
We colonists of England and France have taken an interest in the Ohio River and Mississippi River due to there enhancements of transportation.
Spring of 1754, Washington and his troops marched toward the Ohio River and encountered a small French force that eventually caused him to retreat and build a stockade named Fort Necessity. Shorty after a month, a large French force had arrived and forced Washington to surrender.
Before they had started fighting, Britain had asked the colonies to prepare for war and to negotiate an alliance with the Iroquois
Please prepare the colonies for war, we need allies and strength.
The Albany Conference
1754 - Colonial delegates negotiate with Iroquois leaders in Albany, New York. The Iroquois had refused to form an alliance with the English colonists but did offer some support
Iroquois controlled Western New York, the French had to pass through Western New York in order to reach the Ohio River.
