  • In 1928, Scottish Biologist Alexander Fleming, discovers a fungus that killed bacteria. It became the first antibiotic
  • A parasitic disease spreaded by mosquitoes, killed more than 600,000 people per year. This disease is known as Malaria
  • Cautious approaches were developed, like mosquito nets treated with insecticide.
  • Bacteria that affects the lungs causes tuberculosis. 
  • Many before 1946 died from this harrowing disease, as there was no treatment then. A cure soon was developed through the use of antibiotics
  • Early 21st century, a strain of T.B. resistant to antibiotics appeared, a worldwide campaign against T.B. began in 2010s
  • Found in the Congo of 1976, Ebola is a deadly disease caused by a virus that infects the African fruit bat and primates from exposure to fluids of the infected.
  • Intensive public health effort contained and ended the outbreak.
  • Disease causes bleeding, organ failure, and death
  • As people lived longer, a dementia known as Alzheimer's Disease affected the elderly and some middle-aged people.
  • The victim gradually lose their memory everything, soon leading to death
  • Bacterial disease that spreads through contaminated water, cholera caused more than 100,000 deaths a year
  • Methods to counter this disease included boiling or chlorinating drinking water or pouring water through cloth filters.
