In chapter 1 page 13, Sodapop defends Ponyboy to Darry saying that it wasn't Ponyboy's fault he got jumped by the Socs after he got out of the movie theater, this relates to the theme "different types of love" since it shows that Sodapop takes up for Ponyboy and that he cares for him."Soda was glaring at him. "Leave my kid brother alone, you hear? It ain't his fault he likes to go to the movies, and it ain't his fault the Socs like to jump us, and if he had been carrying a blade it would have been a good excuse to cut him to ribbons""-Sodapop

In chapter 3 page 39, Ponyboy and Johnny have a close relationship with each other, having a brotherly-love friendship which relates to the theme "different types of love.""Two-Bit always said he wondered why Johnny and I were such good buddies. "You must make such interestin' conversation," he'd say, cocking one eyebrow, "you keepin' your mouth shut and Johnny not sayin' anything." In chapter 4 on pages 59-62 after Johnny killed Bob the Soc, him and Ponyboy go out to seek Dally for help. After Dally hears out the story, he tells Johnny and Ponyboy a plan to go into hiding, a gun, and some money. Dally here shows his respect to the boys and that he cares and a relation to the theme, "different types of love."
Ponyboy, if you can write a good semester theme, I'll pass you with a C.
In chapter 6 page 98, Ponyboy rushes to Darry saying that he was sorry, indicating that Ponyboy realizes that Darry does love him and is always worried about his safety connecting to the theme, "different types of love."""Darry!" I screamed, and the next thing I knew I had him around the waist and was squeezing the daylights out of him. "Darry," I said, "I'm sorry..." -Ponyboy
In chapter 10 page 152-155, Dally finally broke after Johnny dies. He then robs a store so that the cops could chase after him. He holds out a gun as a bluff and the police shoot him dead. This act shows us that Dally was one of the only things he loved and he couldn't take it after Johnny dies as it is one example of the theme, "different types of love."
In chapter 12 page 169, Ponyboy isn't going to well in his English class and it's making his teacher upset. HIs teacher tells him that he'll pass Ponyboy with a C if he can make a good semester theme. Ponyboy's teacher in the novel is described as a really good guy who cares for his students and is interested in them as people. This illustrates us that Ponyboy has a teacher who cares about him and his grades which connects with the theme, "different types of love.""He's a real good guy, who makes us think, and you can tell he's interested in you as a person, too." -Ponyboy
