  • In 1774 the delegates from the thirteen colonies (except Georgia) met in Pennsylvania for the first Continental Congress meeting 
  • Hello gentlemen!
  • Hello sir!
  • They talked about what happened in Massachuetes where the British attacked the colonist and what to do about it
  • We need to go to war
  • We should extend olive branch
  • Not all of the delegates agreed on what to do
  • They eventually agreed on sending an olive branch to the King
  • In 1775 the delegates from the thirteen colonies met again in Pennsylvania for the second Continental Congress meeting 
  • The meeting occurred while the colonies were at war with Britain
  • We need to declare our freedom!

  • Indeed
  • Most of the colonies at this point wanted to be free and independent states but the thought of separating from the Crown still was a huge concern for some.
  • There will be blood shed gentlemen
  • The delegates signed the Declaration of Independence and truly declared their freedom
  • Eventually the delegates came to an agreement of with 12 yeses and one abstained
