Storyboard Text

  • My dear fellow, there is one that can.
  • Hunting? General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.
  • . . .
  • But no animal can reason.
  • But you can't mean-
  • The Most Dangerous Game  Characterization:                  GENERAL ZAROFF
  • I hunt the scum of the earth- sailors from tramp ships- lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, Mongrels...
  • Precisely.
  • But they are men!
  • On an island known as Ship-Trap, a savage, misleading, and terrifying man named Zaroff resides in a palatial château.
  • Oh yes, I have electricity. We try to be civilized here.
  • Civilized? And you shoot down men?
  • The General is savage in that he hunts men for sport. Zaroff tells us this himself...
  • The general was playing with me! The general was saving me for another day's sport!
  • ...And his actions with a gunshot in the night reinforce his savagery.
  • B L A M !
  • General Zaroff is also pretty  misleading- as we can judge from his conversation with Rainsford.
  • Lastly, Zaroff shows himself as terrifying by toying with Rainsford, and when he figures it out, the effect of the general's antics are large.
  • It was then that Rainsford knew the true meaning of terror.
