  • We are introduced to the narrator who wished to convince the readers of his innocence although he killed a man over his eye.
  • Climax
  • The narrator lives with an old man who has a deformed eye. The narrator describes the eye to look like a vultures eye with a film covering it.
  • Falling Action
  • Over the next week or so the narrator plot to kill the old man and get rid of the deformed eye.
  • Resolution
  • Finally one evening, the old man wakes up to see the narrator and screams. The narrator pulls the old man of the bed and continues to suffocate the man with the mattress.
  • A neighbour calls the police saying that they heard someone screaming. The narrator tries to cover up and say that he was the one who screamed and that the old mean had been out of town.
  • The narrator hides the body underneath the floor boards. When he is talking to the police he hears a ticking noise and it grows louder and louder. The narrator believes that it is the old mans heart and he confesses to the police.
