Storyboard Text

  • Act I Scene I
  • "Even now, now, very now, an old black ram is tupping your white ewe."
  • Act I Scene II
  • "damned as thou art, thou hast enchanted her!
  • Act I Scene III
  • The book starts off with the apparent antagonist, Iago, and a man named Roderigo. Roderigo apparently paid Iago to set him up with a fair lady named Desdemona. Him and Iago go to Brabantio's house (Desdemona's father) and shout to Brabantio that his daughter is married to Othello and Brabantio is enraged by this clamor.
  • Scene Two begins with Iago "warning" Othello about Roderigo's slander. Othello brushes it off. Shortly after Cassio, (a true friend of Othello, a gentleman, and Othello's lieutenant), comes with news that the duke has summoned him. However, before he gets to the Duke, he is stopped by Brabantio and his men armed with swords. Othello remains calm and handles the situation.
  • Othello and Brabantio arrive at the Duke's and Brabantio claims that Othello has stolen and enchanted his daughter Desdemona to marry him. The Duke asks Othello for his side of the story and Othello basically states that he did not and won his daughter over with his epic tales of his life and adventure. The Duke believes him and Brabantio is silenced. After this scene, Iago now tries to convince the now hopeless Roderigo that he will succeed.
