  • Story starts with Granny Weatherall scolding Doctor Harry while laying in bed, convinced that their is nothing wrong with her.
  • "Get along now. Take your schoolbooks and go. There's nothing wrong with me."
  • 
  • *whispering*
  • Granny becomes annoyed after hearing her daughter, Cornelia  whispering about her and closes her eyes and begins to reflect on the old days of 'tomorrow."
  • tomorrow.
  • Granny makes plans to go through her letters from George and John "tomorrow", so her children do not find them, and she comes across an unpleasant thought of death.

  • Granny hears Cornelia whispering about her to her husband, and ponders on the thought of Cornelia's children doing the same to her in the future. 
  • "Wait, wait, Cornelia, til your own children whisper behind your back!"
  • Granny reminisces on the memories of her late husband, John, her decades of hard labor, and farm sunsets spent lighting lamps with her children.
  • After 60 years of praying against remembering George, Granny tries to recollect her memory of the day she was left at the altar.
