Almost all men over the age of 18 were being drafted to war, this resulted in many sports teams disbaning. The solution that the people came up with was to recruit women to play baseball. This created the All-American Girls Baseball League which eventually turned in the All-American Girl Professional Ball League.
The cities chosen for leagues were Racine and Kenosha Wisconsin, Rockford, Illinois, and South Bend, Indiana. The selection process was rough and coaches were very strict. It got to the point that no one wanted to pick up the phone for fear that they were going to get cut.
