  • The setting of the story takes place in an old mans house, specifically in the old mans bedroom at midnight. The narrator is the antagonist because he is planning to kill the old man because of his"vulture eye". He felt like the eye cast spells on him.
  • Climax

  • For a whole week the narrator was nice to the old man. Then every night the narrator would go to the old mans room and open the door. He would watch upon him hoping to see the eye. When he dosen't see it he slowly opens the lantern up just enough to try to see the eye. The next morning after he watches the old man he asks him how he slept to see if the old man suspected anything.

  •  On the eighth night the narrators finger slipped and mad a noise with the lantern. Old man shot up and didn't move anymore. They had an hour long standoff without moving a muscle. Then the old mans eyes were open and narrator opened the lantern just enough to see the eye. He saw it and then his heart started to beat very fast but he thought it was the old man but it was his own. He was scared that the neighbors would hear the heartbeat cause it kept getting louder. 
  • Resolutin

  • Since he thought the neighbors would hear the heartbeat he shot up and scared the old man. The old man shrieked and the the narrator killed him by suffocating him with the mattress.
  • After killing the old man the narrator dismembered his body in the bathtub and then he put the bod under the floor boards. Then the police arrived due to the neighbors calling because of the old mans shriek.He lets the police in and lets them search he grabs a chair for the police and he sat on top of the body. The narrator hears his heart beat again and thinks its the old mans. Narrator started to freak out.
  • The narrator finally confessed to the crime. He could not stand the sound of the heart beat which was his guilt.
