Storyboard Text

  • My name is Sulamak. There are no schools near me so I don't get an education.
  • 1979
  • We are separated from the whites into our own communities while they live in gated communities.
  • We aren't allowed to be seen with whites, if we're caught with them, we'll be arrested and locked up but if we speak out we'll get arrested too. All because of apartheid.
  • To top it off, our rugby team won't allow any blacks on the team.
  • Thanks to Mandela, apartheid is over and both whites and blacks can be seen together. But many are still reluctant to do so.
  • 1991
  • They let the first black man on the rugby team! Such change for my country.
