  • The king and queen of thebes have a child that is destined to kill the king, and so they abandon their child to avoid fate.
  • climax
  • Oedipus comes across an old man while fleeing so that he doesn't kill his father, but little does he know that once he kills this man out of anger, he killed his real dad 
  • falling action
  • Oedipus encounters a sphinx and correctly answers a riddle, forcing her to kill her self. This creature was terrorizing the kingdom, so they make him the king and he was married to the queen as they lost the king, for getting rid of the sphinx.
  • resolution
  • After discovering  that he was the one to kill his father and that he married and had 4 kids with his mother, Oedipus returns home to kill his mother for not telling him to find that she has hung herself. He then guages out his eyes in sorrow and rage.
  • After all the madness of fate, Oedipus banishes himself from the kingdom and takes two of his children with him.
  • The other two rule the kingdom for him and he wonders the world blind.
