Many young girls are not able to go to school because they do not have menstrual products to help them. This makes it much harder to be able to go to school. Many girls don even go to school for a week every month.
Because of her passion towards the issue, Amika George decided to start a petition and show awareness. Soon enough, more and more people started sharing the petition and it started to get many peoples attention.
Amika George organized a petition. More than 1,000 people came and shouted. As of today, more than 150,000 people have signed the petition.

Why is Amika George remembered? Amika George is remembered for standing up for the rights of all women who are not able to buy period products. Her passion, persistence, and bravery has made her a hero for many women in the world.
The #FreePeriods petition has now gathered more than 180,000 signatures. The Government has also ensured children get free school meals are given free menstrual products.
