Juliet Act 4 Scene 3 Contemplations
This storyboard does not have a description.
“How if, when I am laid in the tomb, I wake before the time that Romeo come to redeem me?”
What if she wakes up before Romeo comes? Will she suffocate in the grave and actually die waiting for him?
“Where bloody Tybalt, yet but green in earth, lies festering in his shroud; where, as they say, at some hours in the night spirits resort.”
If she does wake she will wake between ghosts and skeletons and also her cousins fresh corpse which will be quite a gruesome, morbid experience.
“What if this mixture do not work at all?”
Juliet wonders what would happen if this drug the Friar has given her doesn’t work. Would she have to be married the following day? No, if it doesn’t work she will stab herself instead.
Tybalt’s ghost is going to try to kill Romeo because it is Romeo that killed him.
“Seeking out Romeo, that did spit his body upon a rapier’s point.”
Romeo, Romeo, Romeo! Here’s drink. I drink to thee.
She drinks, and says that she is doing all of this for Romeo.
“What if it be a poison which the Friar subtly hath ministered to have me dead…”
What if, to cover up that he married her and Romeo, the Friar is trying to poison Juliet? She contemplates it, but strongly doubts it.
