Grendel is jealous of the people of Herot because they are happy and celebrating. He has to stay down below the Earth by himself while they get to party so he decides to attack the warriors in the Golden Hall.
Grendel snuck into the Golden Hall and killed many of the warriors. King Hrothgar is distraught and the story spreads across the seas.
Beowulf hears of the attacks and gathers a group of the finest warriors to travel to Herot and kill Grendel.
Falling Action & Resolution
Beowulf pretends to be asleep in the Golden Hall and attacks Grendel when he shows up. Beowulf is able to catch Grendel off guard and kills him. Beowulf cuts off his head and shoulder and hangs them up as a trophy.
Grendel's mother attacks Beowulf as revenge for killing her son. Beowulf finds a magical sword and kills her with it.
The sword disintegrates and Beowulf takes Grendel's head as revenge and returns home. Both monsters have been killed and the people of Herot rejoice.
