First, Kira's mom gets taken to the field to die due to her illness and this event leads Kira to be very upset and she needs to find a new way to live.
in this scene, Vandara is fighting to take Kira's cottage away from her so she can make it a pen for the tykes in the town. Since she makes Kira sound useless, Kira makes up a lie and says she can do different stitches and they believe her.
In this part of the book, Kira and Vandara's court case is closed. Vandara ended up getting Kira's cottage and in return they gave Kira a home that will provide her with everything and she can start a job there.
During this section, she meets Thomas at her new job that she sews at. Since she doesn't know any stitches, she finds a friend named Thomas who starts to help her with the stitches so she doesn't get caught for lying in court.
In this part of the book, Kira goes over to work with Annabella who is a four-syllable which means she's very important and wise. After Kira brings up the beasts and Annabella tells her that they aren't real. This is a huge turning point in the book because the beasts are such a big subject in the book.
At the end of the book, Kira's father ends up finding her by looking everywhere for Kira and going back to his old village. Here, he explains that the beasts are just people and he has actually been alive the whole time.
