Friday Night in the 20's
By: Danielle Nii and Jordan Kyles Period.1 4.19.18
A long time ago, women finally gained their freedom and rights. The main event that led to this was the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.
With the women gaining the right to vote, it gave them more power. It made all the women want to go out and have fun, which was known for being a flapper.
The "want" to have fun made people want to go out and drink a lot, which led to the Prohibition. Prohibition didn't allow people to drink alcohol anymore.
Prohibition then led to speakeasies, which were secret bars in people's basements. They secretly supplied alcohol for people that they knew and played new types of music.
In order to keep the speakeasies alive, bootleggers, another type of gangsters, had to sneak in the alcohol for bars.
