  • Displacement is redirecting one's feelings towards another person or object. For example, being stressed or angry about bills and showing unfair anger towards your wife.
  • Rationalization is coming up with a beneficial result of an undesirable occurrence. For example, not making the soccer team and saying that they were too busy with school work anyways.
  • Sublimation is channeling one's frustrations towards a different goal. This is viewed as a healthy defense mechanism. For example, getting broken up with and then working out and being more healthy.
