The Exposition of the story is when Mantresor vowed revenge on a man named Fortunato "The thousand injuries of fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge."
The main conflict of the story is in between the two main characters of the story Montresor and fortunato, montresor has heard that fortunato has said 1,000 insults about him and is plotting his revenge "He had a weak point-this fortunato-although in other regards he was a man to be respected and even feared."
The Falling Action
The rising action is where montresor is trying to get fortunato to come underground to see the wine he has "I said to him: "My dear fortunato, you are lucky we met.How remarkably well you are looking to-day! But I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts"
The climax is when montresor is able to trick fortunato to come down to the catabombs to try his new wine he had gotten " When the clanking subsided I resumed the trowel, and finished without interruption the fifth, the sixth, and the seventh tier. The wall was now nearly upon a level with my breast."
Fortunato realizes that he would die for a bottle of wine since that was is biggest weakness wine
Montresor admitted to killing fortunato but he confesed 50 years after killing his victim
