Storyboard Text

  • Today, we'll be talking about convection currents! Let's use this bowl of water as an example.
  • This is a bowl of cold water. We just happen to have a cup of warm water with us today.
  • When we add warm water to the bowl of cold water, what will happen?
  • Let's see!
  • Even though the warm water was added last, it floated up,
  • Warm water
  • Cold water
  • -And the cold water sunk.
  • This is due to temperature, not the fact that it's water.
  • This happened because warm water is less dense than cold water.
  • This happens in many situations, including in the mantle with rocks.
  • So, now you know how convection currents work! Thanks for taking a look with me today!
