  • December 1st, 1955 in Alabama
  • Thank god those people have to sit in the back!
  • I am so grateful that there is the Montgomery City Code that allows us to sit seperatley.

  • I am not moving sir
  • Segregation between races was very prominent throughout the US prior to the Civil Rights Movement.
  • Ms. Parks , you are aware of Alabama's racial segregation ordinances! You are under arrest for civil disobedience!
  • African Americans were deemed inferior and were forced to sit in the back of the buses. In order to ride the bus, African American passengers must first pay the fare at the front of the bus, get off the bus, and re-enter through the back door
  • African Americans will no longer be using the Montgomery bus! Rosa Parks is right! We deserve to sit wherever we want!!!
  • Ms. Parks is so brave! 
  • On December 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks decided to stand up against the discrimination refused to leave her spot, that was meant for a white person, despite being told by the bus driver and other passengers.
  • The Supreme Court of the United States of America rules that the segregated seating condition on buses is unconstitutional!
  • The police are called. Rosa Parks was arrested and fined $10
  • This was the spark that ignited the US Civil Rights Movement. Following her arrest, the Montgomery Bus Boycott began. African Americans were refusing to use Alabama's public transportation system.
  • The Supreme Court of the United States of America rules in favour of the African Americans and racial segregation on buses is removed all thanks to the brave actions of Rosa Parks.
