1.Discuss what you learned about environment and place related to public health this week.
Environmental health is the public health of how an environment affects the health of those who live in that particular environment.
Environmental health is out of control of the individuals who live in that environment but instead is the responsibility of the government. The government must take action within the environment to help its citizens be healthy.
For example the government is responsible for giving the public clean water to drink. They also can create services to help get rid of pollution and provide a safe place to dispose of trash to make the environment healthier to live.
Hazards within the environment- The government is also responsible for finding hazards that might be in the environment that could possibly have negative effects towards the people who live there. An example of this can be lead within the ground. If people in the area are exposed to this they could end up with lead poisoning.
Chemicals- Their could be man-made chemicals put into the environment through pollution or spraying of pesticides. These chemicals can have harmful to animals and humans that come into contact with these or drink water that is contaminated by these chemicals.
Sometimes workers can be forced to work in environments that have toxic substances that have serious health when exposed for too long but they usually don’t know about these. Some of the hazards have been known to lead to neurological disorders and even cancer.
