  • How fast can this car go?
  • It   can reach a top speed   of 129 miles an hour.
  • Protagonist saw hitchhiker on the side of the road and decides to give him a ride
  • One hundred and twenty miles per hour!
  • And do you mind telling me exactly what speed you were doing just now?
  • Seventy
  • Do you know what is the speed limit in this country?
  • The hitchhiker  looks like   a ratty-faced man with grey teeth.His eyes were dark and quick and clever,like rat's eyes,and his ears were slightly pointed at  the top.He had a cloth cap on his head and was wearing a greyish-coloured jacket with enormous   pocket .
  • Where d'you think  I got it? Off the top of your trousers,of course.
  • Ever seen this belt before?
  • Hey! That's mine,isn't it? It is mine! Where did you get it?
  • The officer lost both books,the one with my name on it and the one with yours. Raising both of the books,he said "easiest job I ever done."
  • They started talking about their jobs and the   hitchhiker   challenge protagonist to see how fast the car can go.
  • You've heard of a goldsmith or a silversmith,for instance.They're experts with gold and silver.I'm expert with my fingers,so I'm a fingersmith.
  • It must be an interesting job.
  • You're a genius!
  • Suddenly,they were stop by  the police officer for speeding,the officer took down their details and books the protagonist  issuing him a hefty fine and penalty.He got into trouble because the hitchhiker challenged him to speed.While in a terrible state,the protagonist starts to wonder why the hitchhiker lied to the officer and becomes suspicious of him.
  • While on the way to London,protagonist questioned the hitchhiker and  he reveals that there's more  to him than meets the eye.He  performs  a simple demonstration  to show the protagonist what he actually does for a living.The driver is amazed.
  • The hitchhiker reveals that he is a fingersmith and reveals that he have the both the black book where the officer wrote their details and that makes them both excited and relieved all at once.
