Storyboard Text

  • “Everyone sit down.”
  • The boys run quickly and start a rain dance. Jack starts chanting which everyone repeats.

  • “Who’s going to join my tribe?”
  • Jack raised his spear again.
  • “I will too.”
  • The circle became a horseshoe. A thing was crawling out of the forest. It became darkly uncertain. The beast stumbled into the circle.
  • Ralph made a sudden movement that became a stumble.
  • “I will!”
  • “Come away. There’s going to be trouble. And we’ve had our meat.”
  • There was a bright light and the thunder exploded as big drops of rain fell among them.
  • The boys closed the circle around the beast. They continued chanting but it changed a bit this time.
  • “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!”
  • The boys repeated this many times.
  • Simon was crying out something about a dead man on a hill.
  • The beast struggled forward and broke the circle. At once the crowed left on the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore.
  • “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! Do him in!”
