Storyboard Text

  • This letter says I've been enlisted to the war
  • But they can't make you go can they?
  • It says I have to go! It's called the draft.
  • At least they promised to pay us!
  • Let's finish this!
  • I just want to go home!
  • It's been 15 years since WWI, and you still haven't paid us!
  • Just because you screwed the stock market doesn't mean you can screw us!
  • WE WANT PAID!
  • This is Benjamin Moor. At 18, he has a bright future ahead of him. Soon he'll take off to college and start a new life. But one day, Benjamin would receive a letter that would change his life.
  • You were the only hope I had left!
  • There's nothing left, Benjamin.
  • During WWI, the battles were bloody. New forms of warfare appeared that have never been used. Tanks, planes, and machine guns were used instead of swords and muskets. More people died in this war than any before it. Luckily, Benjamin would survive the horrors of this war.
  • I guess the place I belong is on the battlefield.
  • Even the city has no room for me!
  • The US entered a new age of development and consumerism. Soon the government would pay the money they owed to the soldiers of the war for their service. But that money never came. In 1929, the stock market crashed, and the Great Depression began. In 1932, these veterans formed the Bonus Army, and marched on Washington.
  • YES SIR!!!
  • Soldiers!!! MOVE OUT! This invasion will change history forever!
  • Benjamin went home, but soon realized that there were jobs in his town left. So he went to Kansas where his Uncle Roy lived as a farmer. But when he got there he realized he had it worse. The dust bowl wiped out his farm and the dust covered everything.
  • Not knowing where to go, Benjamin traveled aimlessly around the country, doing odd jobs. But he never stayed in one place for long. He felt he didn't belong. Standing on a dock in San Francisco, Benjamin thought about life. WWII had started. He had nothing left. The only time he felt he had a purpose was in the War. So Benjamin signed up to fight.
  • Benjamin, with his experience, quickly rose through the ranks. In fact, he led afull platoon of soldiers. The Germans didn't seem to know when to give up.  They had to get into Europe. Finally, it was announced that the Allies had a plan. They would invade Normandy. And that's what happened. Unfortunately, Benjamin died in the war. But at least he died where he wanted to: in war.
  • IT's almost as if he enjoys war! Heard he's a WWI vet. Probably never left the battlefield. At least not in his mind.
