  • Frederick Douglass doesn't know how to read, and he is on a journey to make sure that he learns and he will never stop until he learns to read.

  • Frederick Douglass is working in the field and is very tired. He is a hard worker and Mrs. Auld appreciates his work.
  • YOU are NOT allowed to learn to read. You are a slave, You will not get an education.
  • Frederick after a long and tiring day, drowning in his sweat, Mrs. Auld decides to teach him the alphabet.
  • Mrs. Auld takes Frederick into a room and starts teaching him small words and let him read aloud, Frederick is suffocating in his words. Frederick said to himself, mom, I wish you were here to see us.
