  • Studies have proven that early morning exercises can activate the brain and get the students more engaged for the early morning lessons.
  • Good Morning Class! First thing as usual, we are going to put our backpacks down and head over to do the grass and do our morning exercises. On the count of 3 put your backpacks down and follow me. 1-2-3!
  • The line order is predetermined and order is based on the behavior of students and can fluctuate dependent on the daily behavior.
  • That was a great job of everyone moving thier bodies and getting ready for the day. Now please pick up your backpacks and line up in our line order. Lets see if we can make two straight lines in under ten seconds. 10,9,8,7...
  • I want the students to bring everything they need in class at one time so they can't ask to go because they forgot something. Having them in charge of their belongs builds independence and responibility
  • Ok before we come into the class I want you to take out your homework folders,water bottles and jackets. Please take a look in your folder while walking in and see if there is anything you need to turn in today.
  • The daily reflection starts to get students thinking about academic and/or social performance and allows them to set positive
  • Find your seat as quickly and quietly as possible. Take a look up at the board and please read and respond to today's daily reflection. We will be sharing with our rug partners so please try to write some idea down.
  • Think of a time that you were happy. Describe where,what and when is was that made you feel this way
  • After five minutes students will meet up and share their responses, this helps to instill thinking and sharing norms of discussion in the class.
  • 1-2-3 Eyes on me! (wait for response). Everyone put your pencils down and find your rug spot and meet your rug partner and talk about your response to the reflection. Try to notice any connections between your reflections.
  • Ill be calling one row at a time to return to stand up, put away their reflection journal and set up for your CGI math warmup. You do this by taking out your CGI notebook, find the next blank page and having a pencil on your notebook and then returning to the rug as quickly as possible.
  • After discussing with their partners, ill release them one row at a time to return their journal now that the intentions for the day have been set.
