Storyboard Text

  • Symbol
  • Symbol
  • Imagery
  • The symbol is the scarlet ibis survived for longer than it should've. What it symbolizes is that Doodle has survived for much longer than he should've given his conditions. It foreshadows Doodle dying later in the story.
  • Theme
  • A coffin is a symbol for death. What it symbolizes in the story is that Doodle will die and also foreshadows him dying in the end.
  • Dynamic Character
  • Imagery is visually descriptive and figurative language. "Trembling, he’d push himself up, turning first red, then a soft purple, and finally collapse back onto the bed like an old worn-out doll." (pg.351)
  • Personal Reaction
  • Enjoy being with your family while you have them because any day they could end up gone. I chose this theme because the Narrator hates Doodle on and off throughout the story and it is possible the Narrator's cruelty caused Doodle's death.
  • The narrator is the dynamic character because he changed to like Doodle when, initially, he hated him.
  • At the end of this story I felt sad. I think the narrator is a bad brother because any good brother would've stayed with their little brother and also never even think about smothering them with a pillow.
