Storyboard Text

  • Protein Synthesis
  • DNA -> mRNA -> Protein
  • The first part of protein synthesis  is called transcription.  The DNA unzips and creates a strand of mRNA.
  • Transcription
  • The newly made mRNA strand leaves the nucleus and enters a ribosome.
  • Translation
  • The newly made mRNA strand is used as a recipe to make protein. A ribosome reads the recipe in parts of three in the correct order to make a protein.
  • Ribosome
  • The tRNA brings over the amino acids as the ribosome needs them.
  • If any nitrogen bases are messed up within the DNA, there will be different amino acids in the proteins which will cause a lack of enzymes
  • Ribosome
  • tRNA
  • Amino acid
  • DNA is considered the blueprint of all life because it holds all the information you need to be a unique human being. Without DNA you would not be alive. If everyones DNA was the same we would all be identical twins.
  • Why is DNA considered the blueprint of all life?
